I was 15 years old, young I know, and I had missed my period for three months. I just put it down to my age so I thought nothing of it. Thankfully to my wise mum, she made me go to the doctor who did a urine test on me which came back negative. So then put me on the contraceptive pill for three months to see if it would regulate my periods, but still no such luck.
I went back to the doctors after another three months, which made it six months since my last period (by this time I had turned 16) to see what else they could do for me. This time my GP felt my breasts and my stomach. My breasts felt normal and so did I. She told me I would have to go to the hospital for a scan because I was either pregnant or I had a cyst on my womb. She did say to me that if I was pregnant then it would only be a matter of a couple of months. In the meantime, whilst waiting for my appointment to come through, I was going on holiday abroad for two weeks. When I got back I had a letter come through the post for an appointment at the hospital for the 24 Oct. 2002.
I got to the hospital and had my scan. The second the doctor started there was a picture on the screen. I could see there was a baby in my stomach. Firstly, he told me that as far as he could see my baby was fit and well and then he went on to measure my baby. This is the shocking part it turns out that I was 32 weeks and 5 days pregnant, which meant I only had about 7 weeks left. What a shock! So much for a couple of months!
I was having a baby boy and was really happy. He was born at 5:45am on the 24th of December 2002 (Christmas eve) and would never change my life for any thing. I am 20yrs old now and have the best family in the world. I am currently expecting my second child and can't wait for her arrival.
